Breast reduction

As it turns out the dream of the perfect bust does not always go hand in hand with its size. For some women, the breast is an abundant affliction and, contrary to popular opinion, having these is no fun. Therefore, some ladies decide to have breast reduction. This treatment can be beneficial not only for health, but also for look and feel.

This treatment is recommended for ladies with overly large breasts. During the procedure excess skin is removed, and subcutaneous tissue and gland is removed from the lower part of the breast. Scarring in the decolte is avoided. The new reduced envelope is sewn together with the nipple at the new location. This treatment usually takes more than three hours and takes place under general anesthesia.

Plastic surgery of the breast requires a two nights stay at the clinic, under the care of a nurse. Sutures are removed 10-14 days after surgery.

After the operation, there may be swelling and bruising which eventually disappears. It is also possible to have temporary loss of sensation of the nipple. For 2-3 weeks you should not do activities that require physical effort, especially lifting of your arms, and for 4-6 weeks after the treatment it is necessary to wear a specially shaped bra. You can return to work after about 2 weeks, if your work is not physical.

Complications following breast reduction.

Complications can be divided into specific and non-specific (the latter can occur after any operation). Most complications involve bleeding or inflammation. In the postoperative phase, there is a risk of a blood clot forming in a blood vessel (called thrombo-embolism).

Of the specific complications which are associated with this particular surgery, the most marked are the possibilities of the death of the nipple and areola, or changing of their color. There is also the risk of breast asymmetry after surgery. Patients often fear sensory changes within the treated breast, but sensory changes are a completely natural reaction after breast reduction surgery, and these should disappear after three months. During this period the scar should also be clearly softer.

How long will the breast reduction last ?

The effect is generally permanent. It is not however possible to influence the natural processes of aging or gravity, which can lead to light falling of the breasts. In order to achieve and maintain the best results, you should follow the advice of the doctor.

Important!

This treatment is not suitable for girls up to 20 years of age (as their breasts are still growing), and for women who have a tendency for the excessive hard and distinctive scar formation found with so-called ?colloids?. It should be noted that internal scarring of breast tissue can prevent future screening tests for cancer.
